Emma Hessels unveils her intimate new single 'Always Lost'

Belgian singer-songwriter Emma Hessels releases her new single ‘Always Lost’ on Unday Records. The track captures a pervasive sense of disorientation: never quite knowing where you stand, living with the conviction of being lost from the very start.

With lyrics that read like pages torn from her diary, Emma turns ordinary moments, a room filled with moving boxes or a silent hour on a commuter train, into scenes of existential loneliness. Her soulful voice lays bare that vulnerability with unflinching clarity, while the music remains both delicate and quietly devastating. ‘Always Lost’ is a song that reflects our own lost moments back at us, offering recognition and comfort in equal measure.

Emma Hessels writes intimate songs that carry universal weight. Drawing inspiration from artists like Jeff Buckley, Lianne La Havas and Nina Simone, her sound resists easy categorization, though her voice remains a constant thread. Selected as a Sound Track laureate in 2023, she quickly found her way into the Belgian music scene with arresting performances at Cirque Royal, AB and Botanique, alongside a guest appearance on Porcelain id’s debut. This summer, she performed at Best Kept Secret, further establishing herself as one of the most promising new voices in soul and indie-folk.

With ‘Always Lost’, Emma unveils a striking new chapter, at once deeply personal and universally relatable, ahead of her upcoming debut EP ‘Constant Distance’, due October 24.
