Last year, Bianca Steck made her mark with the warm, intricately arranged folk-pop of her debut album ‘The Joy of Coincidences’. On new single ‘Common Grounds’, she strips things back for a rawer, more direct approach. Working with American Grammy-winning producer John Davis, Bianca lets the guitars run free and adds more punch to the rhythm section, while her unmistakably soft vocals retain their subtle grain.
‘Common Grounds’ is about two people trying to find common ground despite their differences. It’s about empathy, language and mutual understanding, about continuing to talk and listen when you don’t necessarily see things the same way, and the willingness to find a language you can share.
Following a year of shows across Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands and France – including stops at Ancienne Belgique, Tolhuistuin and Paris’ La Cigale – ‘Common Grounds’ sees Bianca firmly looking ahead. It’s the first in a run of new songs set to emerge over the coming months. More on that soon.
