In 2025, Brussel — the timeless milestone album by Wim Decraene — celebrates its 50th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Belgian singer-songwriter Sam De Nef pays tribute with a stripped-back, heartfelt cover of his favorite track from the record: Rozane.
Four years ago, De Nef translated the song into English for Studio Brussel. Now, he returns to the original Dutch lyrics — lyrics that, over the years, have taken on new life on stages across Flanders.
His version of Rozane is a quiet ballad that pares everything down to the song’s purest form. Gone are the flourishes of the original arrangement. What remains is the essence: just an acoustic guitar and a delicate cello, played by Frederik Daelemans (Tamino), allowing one of the most beautiful lyrics in Flemish pop history to shine in all its naked emotion.
